Free UPS Replacement Battery Recycling
Swapped the batteries in your UPS? Bring us the old ones. We recycle sealed lead-acid (SLA) packs, 12V battery cartridges, RBC kits, and loose backup batteries from any UPS brand. Always free. No appointment needed.
Replacement Batteries We Accept
We accept the internal replacement batteries pulled from UPS units: sealed lead-acid (SLA) batteries, 12V 7Ah / 9Ah / 12Ah packs, APC RBC cartridges, CyberPower and Tripp Lite battery modules, and multi-pack battery trays from rack-mount UPS systems. Swollen, leaking, or dead — we take them all. Need to recycle the entire UPS device instead? See our UPS unit recycling page.
Why SLA Battery Recycling Matters
Sealed lead-acid batteries are the most common type inside UPS units and contain lead plates submerged in sulfuric acid. When landfilled, lead leaches into soil and groundwater for decades. Professional recycling sends these batteries to licensed smelters that recover over 97% of the lead for reuse and safely neutralize the acid. Even the polypropylene cases are recycled into new battery housings.
Bulk Battery Recycling
Replacing batteries across a fleet of UPS units? Data centers and server rooms often generate dozens of spent SLA packs during a single refresh cycle. We accept bulk drop-offs of replacement batteries at no charge. For large quantities from enterprise decommissions, contact us to arrange pickup and documentation.

Computer Recycling LLC offers free UPS replacement battery recycling for residents and businesses across the Kansas City metro area. We accept sealed lead-acid (SLA) batteries, 12V battery packs, APC RBC replacement cartridges, CyberPower battery modules, Tripp Lite battery packs, and all other UPS backup batteries — any brand, any size, completely free.
When handling spent UPS batteries before drop-off, keep them upright and avoid stacking heavy objects on top of them, as cracked cases can leak sulfuric acid. If you notice any white crystalline buildup on the terminals, that is normal sulfation and does not make the battery unsafe to transport — just avoid touching it with bare hands and wash up if you do. Place batteries in a cardboard box or plastic bin for easy carrying. It is important to never throw lead-acid batteries in household trash or curbside recycling bins, as they are classified as hazardous waste in most jurisdictions and require specialized processing. By bringing your used UPS batteries to us, you are ensuring that the lead is recovered at a licensed smelting facility and reused in new battery production rather than contaminating the environment.
