20+ years in
Kansas City.

Computer Recycling LLC was founded in 2005 in North Kansas City with a simple idea: recycling electronics should be free, fast, and hassle-free. What started as a small operation accepting old computers has grown into a full-service recycling and ITAD provider trusted by homeowners, school districts, law firms, healthcare organizations, and Fortune 500 companies across the metro.

Our team handles every step in-house — from unloading your vehicle at the dock to sorting, testing, data destruction, and final material recovery. Because we process everything locally, we maintain a tight chain of custody and can turn around Certificates of Destruction quickly. We follow NIST 800-88 data sanitization guidelines and operate with a zero-landfill commitment, ensuring every item is either refurbished for reuse or broken down for responsible material recovery.

Community matters to us. We keep drop-off recycling free for everyone — no fees, no appointments, no minimum quantities. Whether you’re a resident clearing out a garage or a business decommissioning a data center, you get the same friendly, no-pressure service that’s earned us 4.9 stars from 221+ Google reviews.

Federal standard

Federal standards.
Auditor-ready paperwork.

We hold ourselves to federal data sanitization standards, maintain a zero-landfill processing chain, and carry the documentation to back it up.

NIST 800-88 Rev. 1

Federal media sanitization standard. Every drive we destroy follows the appropriate Clear, Purge, or Destroy level based on media type and client requirements.

HIPAA-ready process

Serialized destruction certificates satisfy HIPAA Security Rule §164.310(d)(2)(i) requirements for healthcare clients. BAAs available on request.

SOX & PCI-DSS

Per-drive serialized Certificates of Destruction provide the paper trail auditors need for Sarbanes-Oxley and PCI-DSS Requirement 9.8 compliance.

Zero landfill policy

Nothing leaves our facility for landfill. All material is either refurbished for reuse or sent to certified downstream processors for material recovery.

Chain of custody

From pickup to destruction, every asset is tracked by serial number. Enterprise clients get detailed logs from intake through final disposition.
