Yes — we take UPS battery backups free, working or broken, any brand and any age. Bring them to Computer Recycling LLC at 125 E 10th Ave, North Kansas City, MO 64116. No appointment, no minimum quantity, no fee. We are open Monday to Friday 8am–3pm and Saturday 8am–2pm. Pull around to the back dock, ring the bell, and our crew comes out to unload for you — most drop-offs take under five minutes. Nothing is landfilled: working gear is refurbished for reuse and the rest is broken down for material recovery through R2v3 or e-Stewards certified partners. Larger volumes can be picked up instead.

We accept complete UPS devices from every major brand: APC Back-UPS, APC Smart-UPS, CyberPower CP and PR series, Eaton 5S/5P/9PX, Tripp Lite SmartOnline, Liebert GXT, Vertiv, and all others. Tower and rackmount form factors, from small 350VA desktop backups to large 10kVA+ server-room units. Working, dead, or beeping — bring the whole unit.
A UPS contains more than just a battery — the plastic housing, circuit boards, copper wiring, transformers, and display panels all need proper recycling. Before bringing in your UPS unit, there is no need to remove the batteries first — we accept the complete device with batteries installed, which is actually safer for transport since the battery compartment keeps everything secure. If your UPS is still plugged in and beeping due to a failed battery, simply power it off and unplug it before loading it into your vehicle. For businesses decommissioning server rooms or network closets, we frequently handle pickups involving dozens of rackmount UPS units at once. Throwing a UPS in the trash is not only wasteful but potentially illegal in many jurisdictions, as the sealed lead-acid batteries inside are classified as hazardous waste.
