Do you accept speakers and audio equipment for recycling?
Yes — we take speakers and audio equipment free, working or broken, any brand and any age. Bring them to Computer Recycling LLC at 125 E 10th Ave, North Kansas City, MO 64116. No appointment, no minimum quantity, no fee. We are open Monday to Friday 8am–3pm and Saturday 8am–2pm. Pull around to the back dock, ring the bell, and our crew comes out to unload for you — most drop-offs take under five minutes. Nothing is landfilled: working gear is refurbished for reuse and the rest is broken down for material recovery through R2v3 or e-Stewards certified partners. Larger volumes can be picked up instead.

What We Accept
We accept all audio equipment: powered and passive speakers, AV receivers, amplifiers, mixing consoles, microphones, headphones, turntables, CD players, and audio interfaces. Home theater, pro audio, and everything in between.
Why Recycling Matters
Audio equipment contains copper voice coils, neodymium magnets (rare earth), lead solder, and large amounts of wiring. Speakers alone contain some of the highest concentrations of copper and rare earth elements found in consumer electronics. Recycling keeps these valuable materials in circulation.
Buyback & Value Recovery
Pro audio equipment, high-end receivers, and commercial sound systems often retain significant value. Brands like QSC, JBL Pro, Shure, and Yamaha are particularly sought after. Contact us if you have professional audio gear.

Audio gear is surprisingly rich in recoverable materials. Speaker drivers contain large copper voice coils and powerful neodymium or ferrite magnets — neodymium is a rare earth element that requires energy-intensive mining, so recovering it from old speakers significantly reduces environmental impact. Amplifiers and receivers house heavy copper transformers, aluminum heat sinks, and circuit boards with gold-plated connectors. Even the steel and wood in speaker cabinets can be sorted and recycled. Bluetooth and wireless speakers contain lithium batteries that must be properly handled to prevent fire hazards in landfills. Whether you have a single pair of worn-out bookshelf speakers or an entire church sound system to retire, bringing them to us ensures every component is processed responsibly rather than buried in a landfill where valuable metals are permanently lost.
