MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac — we take every Apple computer, included with recycling. Always free. No appointment needed.
Do you accept MacBooks and iMacs for recycling?
Yes — we take MacBooks and iMacs free, working or broken, any brand and any age. Bring them to Computer Recycling LLC at 125 E 10th Ave, North Kansas City, MO 64116. No appointment, no minimum quantity, no fee. We are open Monday to Friday 8am–3pm and Saturday 8am–2pm. Pull around to the back dock, ring the bell, and our crew comes out to unload for you — most drop-offs take under five minutes. Nothing is landfilled: working gear is refurbished for reuse and the rest is broken down for material recovery through R2v3 or e-Stewards certified partners. Larger volumes can be picked up instead.
The essentials
We recycle all Apple laptops and desktops: MacBook Air, MacBook Pro (Intel and Apple Silicon), iMac, Mac Mini, Mac Pro, and Mac Studio. Any year, any condition. Don't forget to sign out of iCloud and disable Find My before dropping off.
Apple devices contain aluminum, lithium, cobalt, rare earth elements, and tungsten. While Apple designs for recyclability, millions of Macs still end up in landfills each year. Professional recycling recovers these materials and prevents toxic battery chemicals from entering the ecosystem.
Apple products hold their resale value exceptionally well. MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models from the last 4–5 years often command strong buyback prices — especially Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4) models. Contact us for a value assessment before dropping off.

Protecting your personal data is the most important step before recycling any Apple device. Start by backing up your files to iCloud, an external drive, or Time Machine. Next, sign out of iCloud in System Settings and disable Find My Mac — if Activation Lock remains enabled, the device cannot be refurbished or resold, which reduces its recovery value. Then erase the Mac by restarting in Recovery Mode and using Disk Utility to wipe the internal drive. For Apple Silicon Macs (M1 and later), the built-in Erase All Content and Settings option handles everything in one step. If you are unsure about any of these steps, just bring the MacBook in and let us know — our team can perform a secure, certified data wipe on-site at no charge.
