How does electronics pickup work at Computer Recycling LLC?
Free electronics pickup for Kansas City businesses. Tell us roughly what you have and we schedule a time. For pickups we bring the truck, pallets and shrink wrap, palletize on site, and load everything ourselves — you do not need to move it to a dock. We usually ask for three or more gaylord boxes to justify the trip, though we make exceptions for the Kansas City metro. Gear with resale value is quoted for buyback and can offset your costs; everything else is recycled free. Drives can be wiped, shredded or drilled with a Certificate of Destruction. Schedule Online or Call
Use our online scheduling form or call (816) 295-2334 to request a pickup. Tell us what you have (approximate quantity and types of equipment), your location, and your preferred date. We will confirm a pickup window that works for your schedule. Most pickups are scheduled within 3-5 business days.
We Arrive and Load Everything
Our team arrives at your location with the vehicle and equipment needed for your volume. We handle all the lifting, loading, and transport. Whether your equipment is on a loading dock, in a server room, spread across multiple floors, or stacked in a storage closet, we take care of it. You do not need to disconnect, sort, or prepare anything beyond making the equipment accessible.
We Handle Everything After That
Once equipment is at our North Kansas City facility, we audit every item, destroy all data on every data-bearing device, and process everything for recycling or refurbishment. Businesses can request Certificates of Destruction documenting each drive by serial number, destruction method, and date. Equipment with remaining value may qualify for our ITAD buyback program.

UPS units, battery backups, server room UPS systems, and loose batteries. All batteries are processed through certified recycling channels.

What qualifies
Minimum Volume — What Qualifies for Free Pickup
Our free pickup service is for businesses retiring a qualifying IT load — laptops, desktops, servers, networking equipment, or large amounts of wire. Printers or copiers on their own do not qualify, but can be included with a qualifying load. Here is what qualifies.
General Guideline: 3+ Gaylord Boxes or Equivalent
A gaylord box is a large pallet-sized container approximately 4 feet by 4 feet by 3 feet tall. Three gaylord boxes is our general minimum for a free pickup. In practical terms, this is roughly equivalent to:
- 15–20desktop computers
- 2–3full server racks
- 30–40laptops or Chromebooks
- 1standard office cleanout of monitors, printers & workstations
If your volume is smaller, you are always welcome to drop off at our facility at 125 E 10th Ave, North Kansas City during business hours. For volumes close to the minimum, give us a call — we can often work something out, especially for recurring customers or businesses with high-value equipment like servers and enterprise networking gear.

Audit & Inventory
Every item is logged by type, brand, model, and serial number. Data-bearing devices are flagged for destruction. This inventory forms the basis of your Certificate of Destruction and recycling documentation.
Data Destruction
All hard drives, SSDs, and other data-bearing media are destroyed through physical shredding, drilling, or NIST 800-88 wiping. Every serial number is matched to its destruction record. Full details.
Recycling & Recovery
Equipment is broken down by material type. Metals, plastics, circuit boards, and glass are sent to certified downstream processors. Nothing goes to landfill. Materials re-enter the manufacturing supply chain.
Certificate Delivery
You receive your Certificate of Destruction via email, typically within 1-3 business days. The certificate includes serialized drive-level detail with destruction method, date, and technician for each device.
