Yes — we take DVD and Blu-ray players free, working or broken, any brand and any age. Bring them to Computer Recycling LLC at 125 E 10th Ave, North Kansas City, MO 64116. No appointment, no minimum quantity, no fee. We are open Monday to Friday 8am–3pm and Saturday 8am–2pm. Pull around to the back dock, ring the bell, and our crew comes out to unload for you — most drop-offs take under five minutes. Nothing is landfilled: working gear is refurbished for reuse and the rest is broken down for material recovery through R2v3 or e-Stewards certified partners. Larger volumes can be picked up instead.
The essentials
We accept all optical disc players and media devices: DVD players, Blu-ray players, 4K UHD Blu-ray players, combo VCR/DVD units, portable DVD players, media streaming boxes (Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV, Chromecast, Shield), cable/satellite boxes, and TiVo/DVR units. Remotes and cables welcome.
DVD and Blu-ray players contain laser diodes (with gallium arsenide), precision optical components, circuit boards with precious metals, and power supplies with copper transformers. Set-top boxes add wireless radios with rare earth components. As streaming replaces physical media, millions of these devices need proper recycling rather than landfill disposal.
4K Blu-ray players and high-end media devices (Apple TV 4K, NVIDIA Shield) in working condition can have resale value. Bulk quantities of cable boxes from MDU (multi-dwelling unit) properties are welcome for free recycling.

Yes. We accept VCRs, VHS players, and combo VCR/DVD units for free recycling. These older devices contain recyclable metals and circuit boards that should not go to landfill.
Yes, please check for and remove any discs left inside the player before dropping it off. We recycle the electronic players but not the disc media itself.
